Keys 4 Life Studio Policy

Studio Year & Tuition (online or in person)

• Studio Year = 42 weeks of lessons/11 months (September – July)
• Studio sabbatical for the month of August (no tuition due)
• 30 minute private lesson: $1,210.00 (Annual tuition + materials) / 11 monthly pymts. = $110.00
• 45 minute private lesson: $1,815.00 (tuition + materials) / 11 monthly pymts. = $165.00
• 60 minute private lesson: $2,310 (tuition + materials) / 11 monthly pymts. = $220.00

Tuition is due the 1st lesson of each month. Autopay accounts will handle this on their own. Those not on autopay, will incur a $15.00 late payment fee for any payment received after the 10th of the month.

Tuition unpaid by the 30th of the month will result in lessons being suspended and possible forfeiture of the slot. Lessons may resume when the account is made current, if a slot is still available.

Materials Fee

• A materials fee is included in normal tuition. This reimburses the purchase of digital licenses for printing of all method materials, recital pieces, pop music, rhythm and theory games.

Lesson Courtesy & Protocol

• Students can be dropped off a few minutes before their lesson time and need to be picked up promptly when their lesson is done.
• When it’s time for the students lesson, they can quietly step inside and sit in the chairs by the entrance. PLEASE DON’T KNOCK OR RING THE DOORBELL. Parent are welcome to sit in on any lessons.
• In the event you decide to discontinue lessons, a 30 day notice and payment for that month is required to give adequate time to fill the slot.

Missed Lessons

• Student: Tuition paid reserves a specific time slot for each student. If they are unable to attend, please let me know ASAP and a video lesson can be prepared and posted to their portal in SessionUp. The student can send the teacher an audio recording or short video of them playing their piece(s) and it will be reviewed, with feedback given so that progress can continue!
  
  If NO notice is given, then the student will miss the benefit of the lesson for that week. The student can still send the teacher an audio recording or short video of them playing their piece(s) and it will be reviewed, with feedback given so that progress can continue!
  
  There are no refunds, discounts or makeups given for non attended lessons.
• Teacher:
  If I am unable to teach a lesson, a video lesson will be posted to the student’s account in SessionUp with all the resources necessary to move forward.

Illness

• Students who are ill should NOT come to piano lessons. I reserve the right to send a student home if they arrive sick.

The following options are available:

• If a student is mildly ill, but feels up to having a lesson in the comfort of their own home, please Email, call or text me so we may have a virtual lesson:
  
  NOTE: The studio is now using Facetime, Google Meets or 1 On 1 (free browser software)
• OR The student can video or audio record him/herself playing their pieces and send it to me in a message in The SessionUp app. I will review it, make notes or suggestions for items to work on and post instructions for continuing!

Snow Days

• If school is cancelled for inclement weather, I will leave it up to you the parent whether you come to the studio or choose a live online lesson. Please let me know by noon of the snow day if you choose to do an online lesson.
  
  Use Facetime, Google Meets or 1 on 1 as stated above for any virtual lessons.

Recitals

• There will normally be at least one recital per studio year. All students are strongly encouraged to participate. Friends and family are welcomed to attend. Small children are welcome as well, but parents should be prepared to step out with them if necessary to avoid distracting the performer. Thank you!!
• Recital Dress Code: Nice attire! ~No Jeans Please~

Mission Statement and Final Thoughts:

• To guide each student in a well rounded piano education, using an enjoyable Journey. Students will learn different styles of music, theory, sight reading, lead sheets, playing techniques, finding things by ear, improvisation, and composition; all delivered through creativity, fun games, and music they enjoy!
• I strive to provide an atmosphere of encouragement, safety, and kindness while the student discovers their musical path. It is a space that is well lit, with an open door policy where you are encouraged to sit and observe anytime from the waiting area. Large windows afford a view from the street, and windows in the studio doors allow a full view of the teaching environment inside as well.
• Please communicate to me any details about your student that I need to know as a teacher, that can assist me in any adjustments needed to give them the best piano experience possible. This will be kept strictly confidential.
• The only things I ask from my students are: respect, a teachable spirit, and to strive for consistency in playing their music each week. Learning is not linear. There will be victorious weeks and challenging weeks! That is part of the journey!
  
  I encourage you as parents, to be their cheerleaders in this process! Support them by helping them schedule a time to play each day, and be consistent! Consistency is an integral part of helping them grow! In addition, you can help by WANTING to hear the piece they are working on or have learned! Invite them to play for you! It feels so good when someone wants to hear them play what they have learned and it is great experience for them to play for others!
